P4: Aunt Florie

Aunt Florie
February 2, 2017

I lived life
Compassionately and opinionated
Audaciously, I was liberated.
Truth be told I only wanted to live until the age of 45
I always thought that getting old was overrated

But I loved living life

Beautiful and vibrant
Foxy and neat
Always encouraged others to be the best
They could be

I was lively, smart and bold
I enjoyed my family, parties, and live shows
I had a lot of fun and I like to joke

The mantra "Live Life" is synonymous with my name Florie Reid
And just like the early birds
I loved to sing

Libations and celebrations
You enjoyed life with me
So mourn only a little
As I’m alright here
You’ve all provided me joy
For that I’ll hold dear

You no longer have to worry
I’m more than ok now
I’m never too far
Just look beyond the clouds

My life has not ended
It has just begun
My advice to you is live life
So you’ll have stories to tell
Because where I am is where you’ll come

Whenever you see a cat, say hello for me
Give my great, great grand kids a kiss
Remember me, as I will remember you
In my heart you are all missed.

Blessings pop up anywhere . . .

So yesterday I'm on one of my favorite websites, "Cooking Light" and as I'm scrolling looking for recipes, I see this ad pop up. What do you know, it's me! I couldn't believe it. An ad from Reverbnation promoting me. This has never happened to me before. I'm so blessed. God is always using poetry to constantly change and add to my life. If you would like to check out the song Reverbnation is promoting me for, its called "Frozen" by Wolfgang Amadeuz ft. Cera Bellum and Until, please click the link below:

Dreams " I took a break" part I

Hold fast to dreams
For dreams do die
If you not hold on as tight as you can
Forever you will cry

Feeling un-successful
Potential is just that
Pinnacle un-tapped
and everyone around you notices that

Some of those that you've helped
Will talk behind your back
While others will be happier than you'll ever be
All because excuses sung from your lips
Like the favorite mantra to sing

Life will be life
There will always be something
You're supposed to expect it as you push
So that when surprises arise
  they affect you with nothing

You must, you must focus
Like zombies in trances
So you can beat the dark cloud
and your eyes will no longer
Leak and speak of sadness

So what must you do? Seek your passion.
Never mind the obstacles in your way.
Thrash them.

Mind your lips. Quiet your tongue.
Sharing your dreams with others
No longer work for you
Thine will shall be done

Discipline, determination, drive, apply.
So the next time they see you
Your accomplishments should reek in the air
and you'll find that your completion begets non-gossip
    and rolling of thee eyes

Envy and jealousy will merge
Because secretly they thought
You were all talk

But secretly you've snapped out of your procrastination
With excitement and great urge
With greatness as your destination

Now, their feeling some kind of way
because you've peaked faster in six months
than they have in one year

Maybe it's because they thought they had
all the time in the world
While you thought you were running out of time, oh dear!

But they didn't know that you've been through so much
that it just stifled you a bit.

This was really your pace before all of the tragedies happened.

Now, they realize, they were never on your level in the first place.
As you never left the top. You just took a break.

Until lt's Gone: Dreams...

I have aromatic wishes
Fragrant dreams of desire
My favorite flavors intertwined
Speak to my soul to become inspired

When I open the box of my
Dreams "Are Meant to be Lived" Oolong Tea
I let the smell escape to run free

Within my home

It invokes happiness
Spark ambition
As the essence of relaxation
Continuously roam

While I sip and enjoy
the texture and the taste
of such a perfect blend

The infusion of;
Strawberries, peppermint
and who would've thought
Jasmine

Reeks in my senses
Reeks relentless

and leaves me
to daydream
to chase dreams

Until it's gone.

S.O.Y. Save Our Youth...

Ever heard of an organization called: S.O.Y. Save Our Youth? Well they have just put together a book and it's a collection of poetry that speaks out about child abuse. Written by various poets, the collection was put together to raise child abuse awareness and inform people of the danger that comes with it. All proceeds from this title goes to the Save Our Youth Foundation (SOY).

The spearhead of this project is Author and Poet David Motte better known as Mr. Metaphoria. His mission to help Save Our Youth with one action at a time. In his words:

"SOY is foundation that advocates for abused children as well as fight daily to prevent abuse from happening. Please purchase to help a great cause, to move in the steps of helping in Saving Our Youth and on top of that read some really great poetry."

#FunFact:This book features Author and Poet Until, including many other talented poets. We shared poems for the cause. Will you support? https://www.createspace.com/7362346

My Life As a Sheet

As I lie here taking on the burdens of the world
The dreams of individuals
The presentations of foundations and organizations
The business and marketing plans of enterprises and small owned entities
Soon to become entrepreneurial treasures of all nationalities.

I sing logistics, time, effort, togetherness and patience that brings about fruition
of long-awaited cherishments for years to come to be recycled and embedded for a guide,
a base for others to utilize ...

To later enhance what started as a beginning present and later became futuristic ideas
to grow into a mass of variety.

As I just lie here consuming secrets good and bad from ancient times to the most recent diaries,
of slaves, inventors, geniuses, young boys to young girls to travelers, writers and generational notes
 of ancestors. I exude, antique to modern to contemporary form. I show the finest of calligraphy, the drawings that are to be pressed and scanned, different hand writings  done hand after hand;

Soon turned into, type that is now, known as what we call, fonts on the computers to print upon me
and last but not at all least, I come with the highest of security, national government because I provide you with your necessities and desires, you can't buy anything without me. I am what we call paper, cheddar', green, dinero, moolah or the simple term, muhn-ee.

As I continue to lay here mesmerized by the sight of music notes like treble clef's and lyrics grammatically prepared to be put to music or an already made melody for the whole world to hear, sing and dance along to; I am nationally universal, for I soothe souls all over the world.

As I lie here with expressed dreams of many and wishes of plenty I reek ambition, drive, exuberance and vision. Feeling on subjects that may be taboo, goals and ideas of what one wants or is going to do. Mental exhaustion, words rushed in scribble, chicken scratched riddles show pages of dated progress. Though people may have said "you can't do it" or "you'll never make it", the white sheet with blue lines soulfully manifest, careful research, step by step instructions, recorded journey of my stress, though, conquering my quest still,  however exposing how I am blessed by my dream finally being made palpable.

As I lie here, I'm overwhelmed and humbled by this whole experience because I've come so far, I've had a long road. Especially when I think long ago to the beginning of my career, my very first two projects. I'll never forget it. They're one of the my greatest achievements to date. To be honest, I was nothing before all of this; I didn't even exist. My whole existence was born when my creator built the world in six days and later created the Ten Commandments to be transferred and the Bible to be printed.

As I lie here . . . I am generationally ubiquitous.
I am timeless.

My life as the sheet.

Madness

When did you become
her constant companion?
Was it when she was five
when her mother died and
she was sent away?
Did you join her
on that long train ride
sit beside her
hold her hand
tell her not to cry?
Was it then that you told her
you would always be
by her side?
When did she turn to you,
welcome you in?
Was it when she had no one,
nowhere else to turn?
Did you say follow me
I will take you away?
Or did you just stand there
and catch her
as she fell?

Dreams "Are meant to be lived" part II

I hold fast to my dreams
Like Langston Hughes told me to
Glad he did because mine would've died
Long before they were supposed to

Because when life gets in the way
Depending on how your cards are laid
It's so easy to become discouraged and dismayed

Yet and still, I hold fast to dreams
Because they are always trying to escape
Through the windows of situations, circumstances
   tragedies and un-expectancies...

But I shall not let them go
I shall not let them leave
I know my life is more than
what it currently perceives

My dreams are my youth
My dreams are my proof

For if I let them die
Old I will become. Sinking in regret.
Thinking of only the ability and potential I had

Never did I pursue, Never did I use
Never did I do...

Anything with it
I let the sky be my limit
When I could've went way beyond stars

I shall not be that rocking chair woman with only
lemonade and wisdom to give... I shall live...

By making my dreams palpable, a reality
build, create a legacy, of my inner me

So, I shall hold fast to dreams
Be all that I can be
I will never let any of my obstacles stop me

Because my dreams. My journey (s)
Are meant to be.....Lived.

"Gotta Go- Gotta Leave" -Inspired by Vivian Green

Premise: The song "I Gotta go. I Gotta Leave." by  Vivian Green came out the year of 2005 and somewhere during that time I had just become affiliated with "Poetry Over Music" as I was reintroducing myself  to my first love, poetry. Now, Poetry Over Music was a new movement to get people to listen and become again inspired by words first, then music.

When I came along they were already strong in numbers of Poets and Spoken Word artists and had made a CD. They were not for sale, promotional items only, for people to enjoy. However, they were in the process of creating another CD, called Poetry Over Music presents "Different Shades of Love" Volume 2. Now, how it was set up for us, they sent out a list of songs and it was on a first come, first serve basis.

So, you would pick your selection and if you got it first, you must write a poem for the song you you've selected. Record it, send it and they would play your poem then the song or vice versa. I, picked Vivian Green's "I Gotta Go. I Gotta Leave." I was featured on that CD and to my surprise, rave reviews and now it has become a fan favorite. I love this poem, it speaks to so many hearts, especially mine. Without further ado, I give you....

"I Gotta Go-I Gotta Leave"

I sing the chorus of Vivian Green's same titled song:

I gotta go. I gotta leave.
So please don't make this hard for me.
I gave enough. I'm tired of love
I gotta let it go.

--Then begin...

I've been with you more than a few years now;
and I just realized, that I'm done. Just realized
that I've spread myself too thin. And,

Since no one is looking out for me, including you.
I decided that this victory belongs to you.
So you win!!! (applause)

For a moment, (I ain't gonna' lie) I was mad at you.
But then I thought to myself, well why am I mad at him?
Because I'm the one who decided to stay and work things through.

Because I should have a left the minute I began to feel it in my gut.
That I had, had enough; and I was no longer in love.
Now, I got the nerve to be angry , 'cause I've invested my time,
Over exhausted my mind. Stayed with swollen eyes, due to you making me cry.

Emotionally drained.
Heart palpitating with pain.
All the while trying to please you. I was going insane.

But you know what else I realized?
It was fear why I stayed.
For I was using my tears as an outlet
So mine leaving would be delayed.

But a long time ago I once told you that.
When my tears no longer drop,
that is when I have stopped
to assess, to see what I need to do
so that I can get where I need to be
            and I've concluded that;

I Gotta' Go-I Gotta' Leave

Frozen

See, I remember when I looked out for everyone.
But I also remember when no one looked out for me.
Same ones in my face, call me if you need anything;
The minute I asked, dismissed and ignored.

Didn't like how that felt
Stop feeling down on myself
No longer will I ask for help, anymore.

Yes sa' the streets have taught me.
My trust is no longer fun and free.
I became cold from others dissin' me

Rise like the Phoenix
I Rise...

Individual with foundational feet
Frozen is how I've become to overcome defeat
No favors here. Sorry.
If there was ever a chance
It is now depleted

This takes place when peeps take my kindness for weakness and use me
Deceitfully sweet and discreet
However now you see
That do to you. I am NO longer me.
No compassion
I am....

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening By Robert Frost

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
